Number Twenty
I've been posting a lot of pretty aggressive stuff, so I was thinking of maybe some jazz or nicer stuff today. Then I thought about it. Then I chose Liars.
Liars is a rock band that's been around for a while, 2000 I think. They have some albums out that people like to call modern classics, like "Drum's Not Dead" and "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned". I like these albums quite a bit. They have a pretty unique rock sound to them, and the vocals are pretty good. Some lyrics are even thought-provoking. So it kind of surprised a lot of Liars' fan base when they made a hard shift into electronics on 2012's "WIXIW." It received some critical acclaim but fans were confused, wondering if they were going to hear more rock sounds from Liars or a different direction entirely.
This year they released "Mess" and went even further into the electronic world. It's almost party music (almost) but only if the party is really messed up. They have catchy choruses and explosive bass lines with some really interesting synth and drum timbres flying in over all of it. The lead singer's voice adds even more color to the mix. The single from the album, "Mess On A Mission", I think is a really great electronic song.
I'll post some songs from "Mess" as well as a link to an older full album of theirs.
Hope you like it.
PS: New release in metal today from Trap Them, titled Blissfucker. It sounds a bit like their 2011 album Darker Handcraft, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm liking it so far.
